The fat man is a fantastically average book written by Maurice Gee. Its about a young boy living in a small town that has many secrets kept hidden. It also stares a man know to the young boy as the ‘fat man’. But later we find out that he is the long lost son of the ‘scary old lady’ Mrs Muskie. The ‘fat man’ forces they young boy (Colin) to steal things and to break in to peoples homes. Then one night the ‘fat man’ comes to dinner and Colin finds out his real name and his terrible past….

  2. Can you explain what you mean in more detail, RaRa??! Do you think everyone in Loomis should share some of the blame for the way Herbert was treated as a child, or is Herbert just a bad man??

  3. well just because you were treated bad as a child doesnt mean that you have to be mean when your a adult. i think we have the choice of who we want to be. and the fat man clearly likes being a bum
