Homework
Herbert Muskie has got in a postiton of power over the Potters and the whole of Loomis becuse he has money. He as the means to employee them all and to pay them good wages and for this he has them eating out of his hands. He has also gained control because of the way he treats the people around him. He know's what he's doing to these people and he obviously see's the effect he has on them. And he obvioulsy can see that by acting this way he can get power and control.
2. What is the average behaviour of Herbert Muskie?
He is a very controlling and revenge driven person. He doesn't seem to care for the people around him and the effect he has on them all. He knows that because he has money he holds all the control.
3. What are Herbert Muskie's general opinions?
Herbert only believes in his opinions. To him no other opinions matter. What he thinks is of the ut most importance so for him when he does something terrible to someone he doesn't see the bad side of it at all. He only see's the things he wants to see and he has the power within him to make people see only what he want them to see.

my thoughts on green hair
and i cant blame her for not going back to the school at the end of the book with that as a first day!
My thoughts on Verna's first day at school
Also, I think Colin's behaviour towards Verna Muskie was a bit odd and he shouldn't of worried about what other people think of him and Verna. Because they have developed a relationship because of tfm and they both dislike him.

Chapter 5 - Green Hair
Colin shoudn't have felt embarrassed about walking to school with Verna but it was good that he tried to stand up for her.

I reckon that Verna should have rejected Colin because he doesn't like her hair, and if Verna was me, I would only want a guy who liked you for who you are! The fat man is way over his head. he needs to stop being mean to Laurie and his sisters and his dad!!!!
I think that Colin should not of tattled and just let it be because then Austin Rice would not of beaten him up. I think that those girls need some serious talking to from the fat man!

The Fat Man - Maurice Gee
This story line has a chilling suspense. Maurice Gee has written this novel in a way where we know things that certain characters don’t but we are still left with questions. I wouldn’t call this book a page turner because I don’t find myself wanting to read more but I do find the storyline interesting. Maurice Gee had described the fat man very well and I think he is a creepy character!
The FAT MAN
The Fat Man by Maurice Gee
The fat man is not my fav book ever and it is pretty boring I think we need a different book for English
IT IS BORING IT IS BORING IT IS BORING IT IS BORING
The Fat Man
General comment;
It’s a dark book that contains lots of suspense and keeps you interested because of the way that the story is written. Its not the sort of book I usually read but it is definitely well written so I am glad that I am reading it.
What the novel has made me think about;
It has made me realise that bullying is not always just kids it can be adults as well. It has also made me think about the effects it can have on some people. Also about what life was like yonks ago in
The Fat Man
The fat man:
General comment:
The fat man is quite a good book. But not really the type of book that I like and I don’t think I would read it in my own time. But it is well written, has a good story line from what I can tell and is very interesting.
What has the novel made you think about?
This has made me think about the effects of bullying. That it hurts people more than you may first think. Also about what life was like yonks ago. When towns were “dry” and when we used to use pounds pennies and pence.
My Thoughts
General Comment:
I think that The Fat Man is a good book but I would not have read in my own time. I would read a different book. But it is interesting because it is set in 1933.
What the novel has made me think about:
The Fat Man has made me think about what life was like yonks ago. It also shows you about what it is like to live in a dry town or a town that is poor and not doing very well.
A scene I enjoy:
I like the scene where Colin Potter first meets Herbert Muskie (the fat man), and is forced to eat the chocolate that belongs to Herbert Muskie.

- Make a general comment about the novel (The Fat Man)?
I think this novel is a thoroughly well written book. It intrigues you with the description of 1930’s
- What has the novel made you think about?
It made me think of stereotypes of different people
- Find a scene
character that interest you.
quotation
The scene that interests me is when they are looking for the valuables in Mrs Muskie’s house. This interest me because it is thoroughly enjoyable to read and how the fat man (Herbert Muskie) is challenging Colin
The fat man is a fantastically average book written by Maurice Gee. Its about a young boy living in a small town that has many secrets kept hidden. It also stares a man know to the young boy as the ‘fat man’. But later we find out that he is the long lost son of the ‘scary old lady’ Mrs Muskie. The ‘fat man’ forces they young boy (Colin) to steal things and to break in to peoples homes. Then one night the ‘fat man’ comes to dinner and Colin finds out his real name and his terrible past….
